New Committee Elected May 2007
Sadly the founding IPO President, Tom Dillon retired from his post this year. We are of course sad to see Tommy go and hope that he will continue to play an active part in the sport. Stephanie Duffy has also resigned from her position as secretary. Best of luck to both of you in all your future endeavours.
Shane Brodie, former Vice President/Treasure was elected President in has been elected President, with Bernard Delaney taking over as secretary and Frank Mc Givney as Treasurer.

National Benchpress Championship 2007 September 2007
This years National Benchpress Championship, which was held at the CIE Club in Limerick, had a great turn out with 21 lifters competing on the day. There were representatives from across the Country including entrants from Limerick, Dublin, Meath, Newry and Galway.
A number of previous Irish records were broken and many lifters achieved new Personal Bests. An updated Record Sheet is now posted.
The Best Lifter Competition was extremely close and had a number of lifters in the running. It came down to a fraction of a point difference and Dublins Pawel Longrosi just missed out to veteran Tommy Dillon of Southill Club in Limerick. |

National Powerlifting Championship 2008 March 2008
First of all a big thank you is due the promoter of this years National Championship, Tony MC Caffery of Galway city Gym and also to Marnus of USN Supplements for sponsoring the prizes, and of course to everyone who gave a hand and who came to show there support. A special thanks also to the following referees for the great job they did, ( IPO - GPC & WPF International ref Tommy Dillon ) (IPO National GPC & IPF International ref Ger Mc Marmara ) ( IPO & IPF National GPC International ref Jimmy Clancy) ( IPO IPF & GPC National ref Ben Hartigan ) (GPC & IPF National & WPF International ref Shane Brodie). And I cannot forget the loaders and spotters, who as always, did a fantastic job.
We had a great turn out with a total of 20 lifters, a very good number considering there was a number of lifters out due to injury. Ber Delaney took the number one spot yet again, and both national and international records were broken on a number of occasions .
Everyone who won on the day have qualified to lift at the WPF European and World Champions this year so get your applications in asap. |
